Mitch McGary Suspended 10 Games: Latest Details, Comments, Reaction

The NBA announced Tuesday it suspended Oklahoma City Thunder forward Mitch McGary for at least 10 games following a violation of the league's joint anti-drug program.

The punishment is in addition to the five-game suspension McGary received in July for a similar infraction. The Vertical's Bobby Marks noted how much the two suspensions will cost:



It's yet another setback for the 24-year-old, who has largely underwhelmed after the Thunder selected him in the first round of the 2014 draft.

Over two years, McGary has appeared in 52 games and averaged 4.4 points and 3.5 rebounds per night. A fractured foot slowed him down early in his rookie year, and a concussion kept him out of action for a stretch in his second season. In 2015-16, he played a total of 72 minutes.

Playing time was already going to be an issue for McGary during the upcoming campaign. The Thunder traded Serge Ibaka to the Orlando Magic, but they received veteran forward Ersan Ilyasova and the draft rights to Domantas Sabonis in the deal. At center, both Steven Adams and Enes Kanter are roadblocks ahead of McGary.
