Greivis Vasquez to Nets: Latest Contract Details, Comments and Reaction

Free-agent guard Greivis Vasquez has agreed to a one-year deal with the Brooklyn Nets, Adrian Wojnarowski of The Vertical reported Sunday night.

Vasquez spoke with Marc J. Spears of The Undefeated after agreeing to his deal:



The Nets were finally able to land another free-agent guard after failed offer-sheet bids for the Miami Heat's Tyler Johnson and the Portland Trail Blazers' Allen Crabbe, per ESPN.com's Mike Mazzeo. 

Vasquez will likely back up Brooklyn's newest point guard, Jeremy Lin, who agreed to a three-year, $36 million deal July 1, per ESPN.com's Chris Broussard and Marc Stein.

A six-year veteran, Vasquez has spent most of his career as a backup with the Memphis Grizzlies, New Orleans Hornets, Sacramento Kings, Toronto Raptors and Milwaukee Bucks. 

His latest stint, which came with the Bucks, never got off the ground, as he missed 59 games because of an ankle injury that required surgery.

Vasquez has proved to be a solid bench player during his time in the league, averaging 9.0 points and 4.8 assists per game in his career. His 6'6" frame ...
