Pau Gasol: Latest News, Rumors and Speculation on Free-Agent C

Pau Gasol officially opted out of the final year of his contract with the Chicago Bulls on Monday, according to ESPN.com's Marc Stein, which means the Spanish center is set to field offers from contenders when free agency begins Friday.

Spurs Will Reportedly Target Gasol  Tuesday, June 28 During an appearance on The Vertical Podcast with Chris Mannix, The Vertical's Adrian Wojnarowski said the San Antonio Spurs have set their sights on Gasol with July 1 looming (via Pro Basketball Talk's Kurt Helin): 

I’m told that Pau Gasol is a real priority for [the Spurs]. They tried to get him before he signed with Chicago. The Bulls were able to offer him a little bit more than the mid-level that year, I think the Spurs had a mid-level for him. They can maneuver in San Antonio and probably be able to offer him market value. We’ll see what that’s going to be.
