Nashville 2, Anaheim 1 (Nashville wins series 4-3)
The Nashville Predators won the first-ever Game 7 in franchise history on Wednesday night to advance to the Western Conference semifinal.
Nashville downed Anaheim 2-1 at the Honda Center against a Ducks team that has experienced terrible luck in Game 7s over the last few years.
The Predators pounced in the first period with a pair of goals from Colin Wilson and Paul Gaustad. Nashville held onto its two-goal advantage until third period, when the Ducks sprung to life in the attacking zone.
Ryan Kesler made things interesting at the start of the final stanza as he cut the deficit to one goal, but Anaheim failed to put a second past Nashville goalie Pekka Rinne.
Rinne made 36 saves in the victory that clinched a spot in the second round of the postseason against the San Jose Sharks.
The Predators' season will continue on Friday night as they face the Sharks in Game 1. On the other hand, Anaheim has plenty of questions to ask itself after another brutal playoff exit.
