Patrick Ewing Speaks on Potentially Interviewing for Knicks’ Head Coaching Job

Patrick Ewing is among the greatest players to ever suit up for the New York Knicks, and the Hall of Famer wants a chance to coach them.

According to Stefan Bondy of the New York Daily News, the 53-year-old 11-time All-Star made it clear Wednesday night he would welcome a chance to interview for New York's job during the offseason: "You know, this is a great fit for me. I have my number up there [in the Madison Square Garden rafters]. I still live in the area. If I get an opportunity for an interview I'd be happy."

Ewing is currently the associate head coach for the Charlotte Hornets, who handily defeated the Knicks 111-97 Wednesday:



The 1985 No. 1 overall selection in the NBA draft previously spent time as an assistant with the Washington Wizards, Houston Rockets and Orlando Magic.

Despite his experience, Ewing acknowledged he hasn't received many looks as a potential head coaching candidate: "I've been doing this, what, 13 years now? I see people who don't have the same amount on their resume as I do and still have gotten opportunities."
