Henrik Lundqvist Injury: Updates on Rangers Star’s Neck and Return

New York Rangers goalie Henrik Lundqvist is slated to make his return to the ice following a brief stretch on the bench.

Lundqvist to Play vs. Red Wings Friday, March 11 Head coach Alain Vigneault told reporters Lundqvist is "good to go" for Saturday's game against Detroit. 

According to the Associated Press (via ESPN.com) on March 8, Vigneault said Lundqvist's neck spasms "have subsided and he's on track to return by this weekend."

Lundqvist had missed the Rangers' last three games as a result of the injury.

Lundqvist Among NHL's Best Goalies  The 2011-12 Vezina Trophy winner has been one of the NHL's steadiest presences in net since making his debut in 2005. Not only has he led the league in shutouts twice (2007-08 and 2010-11), but he's won 30 games during every non-lockout-shortened season of his career. 

But even when the NHL encountered a lockout-shortened season, Lundqvist went on to win a league-best 24 games while topping all goalies with goalie point shares, per Hockey-Reference.com.
