Over one month after committing to play in the NBA Development League, veteran guard Baron Davis agreed to a deal with the Philadelphia 76ers' affiliate the Delaware 87ers on Wednesday.
According to Shams Charania of The Vertical, terms of the contract have not yet been released. The 87ers later confirmed the signing.
Davis spoke about the move on Twitter:
The former All-Star point guard signed an NBA D-League deal on Jan. 15, per ESPN.com's Marc Stein, but he was forced to wait for a suitor after the initially interested Texas Legends decided to pass on him.
Davis has not played in an NBA contest since May 6, 2012, as a member of the New York Knicks in the playoffs against the Miami Heat. He played 25 minutes and scored two points as the Knicks won 89-87 in Game 4 of the first-round series.
The Knicks went on to lose in five games.
Davis has been contemplating a comeback for the better part of a year, but it never came to fruition. He told Bleacher Report's Ric Bucher that this is the healthiest he's felt in the last six years:
