Denver Nuggets forward Danilo Gallinari suffered a right ankle sprain Friday against the Dallas Mavericks.

X-Rays Negative on Gallinari's Ankle Friday, Feb. 26 Gallinari won't return to Friday's game, but X-rays were negative, according to Chris Dempsey of the Denver Post.

Gallinari missed the entire 2013-14 season after undergoing surgery to repair an ACL tear, but he returned to appear in 59 games a season ago. Gallinari has been healthy for most of the 2015-16 season, with a sprained left ankle and bruised knee representing minor exceptions.

Through 52 games, Gallinari is averaging a career-high 19.9 points per contest on 41.1 percent shooting from the field and 36.4 percent shooting from three-point range.

The Italian shooter has emerged as the most reliable scorer for a team that's struggling to uncover an identity as it molds several young players such as Emmanuel Mudiay and Gary Harris, and head coach Mike Malone reiterated before the season started that he would try to play to Gallinari's strengths.
