The Boston Celtics set a TD Garden record by scoring 46 first-quarter points in Sunday's 128-119 win over the Sacramento Kings, breaking the previous arena record of 43 first-quarter points that was set by the Washington Bullets in April 1997, per Elias Sports Bureau (h/t ESPN.com).
The Celtics managed their best first-quarter output since February 1982 on the strength of 10 points from guard Avery Bradley, nine points from forward/center Jared Sullinger and eight points from forward/center Kelly Olynyk.
Bradley may have led the way in terms of raw scoring, but it was Olynyk who had the most obvious role in setting the record, as he scored Boston's final eight points of the historic quarter.
Sacramento also managed an impressive total of 37 points during the fast-paced frame, somehow managing to stay in the game.
The Celtics then outscored the Kings 28-21 in a much calmer second quarter, thus taking a 74-58 lead into the break.
