Lakers Sign Make-a-Wish Teen to 1-Day Contract, Entertaining Presser Ensues

Eighteen-year-old Yitzi Teichman had always dreamt of being a Los Angeles Laker, so when the opportunity presented itself, it was an easy call.

Teichman was diagnosed with a brain tumor at the age of 17 years old. The tumor nearly cost the teen his vision, according to Eric Pincus of the Los Angeles Times, but he was able to have surgery at Johns Hopkins and undergo cancer treatment after that.

When Make-A-Wish came to Teichman, he knew what he wanted—and that was to be a Laker.

Before Sunday's game against the Charlotte Hornets, the Lakers officially made Teichman a member of the team by signing him to a one-day contract. Of course, every big signing requires a press conference. That was something the teen was ready for.

Teichman quipped his way through the press conference, handling himself behind the microphone better than some pros do. It was almost as if he had been preparing his whole life for that moment, in the event he ever got the chance to be a part of an introductory presser.
