Charlotte Hornets swingman Nicolas Batum is battling a toe injury that will keep him out of action for at least one game.

Hornets Rule Batum Out vs. Lakers

According to Rick Bonnell of the Charlotte Observer, the Hornets have ruled Batum out for Sunday's game against the Los Angeles Lakers because of a strained toe.
The 27-year-old originally suffered the injury in a game against the Oklahoma City Thunder on Jan. 20. He did return to action Jan. 27 against the Utah Jazz and was in the lineup against the Portland Trail Blazers two days later, but he struggled with just nine total points on 3-of-20 shooting in the two games.
Batum has taken on an important role during his first season in Charlotte after spending the first seven years of his career in Portland. His across-the-board production usually makes up for his lackluster shooting percentage (40.4 percent from the field).
