Jose Calderon Injury: Updates on Knicks Star’s Groin and Return

New York Knicks guard Jose Calderon has suffered a groin injury that will keep him on the bench for Thursday's game against the Toronto Raptors.

Knicks Rule Calderon Out Thursday, Jan. 28 According to the Knicks' public-relations staff on Twitter, Calderon will be unavailable for New York in a critical Eastern Conference showdown against the Atlantic Division-leading Raptors. 

Calderon was attempting to turn things around in New York after experiencing one of the worst years of his career in 2014-15. Injuries didn't help his low outputs in points and assists as he appeared in just 42 games after suffering Achilles and calf injuries.

He spoke with ESPN.com's Ian Begley about his approach to the 2015-16 season:



This is the first injury that Calderon has suffered this season. He started each of New York's first 47 games and is shooting 47.5 percent from the field.

Calderon has shown in the past that he is capable of being a reliable scorer while distributing the ball. But in a big market like New York, the pressure is higher.
