Danilo Gallinari Injury: Updates on Nuggets Star’s Ankle and Return

Denver Nuggets forward Danilo Gallinari is on the shelf for Tuesday's game against the Los Angeles Lakers because of an ankle injury.

Gallinari Ruled Out vs. Lakers Tuesday, Dec. 22 According to Chris Dempsey of the Denver Post, the Nuggets will sit Gallinari on Tuesday. The 27-year-old leads the team in scoring this season with 17.3 points per game and is shooting 37 percent from three-point range.     

Gallinari originally suffered the ankle injury during Sunday's loss against the New Orleans Pelicans, but he was already dealing with a deep bone bruise in his left leg that left him at less than 100 percent. 

Once a burgeoning young talent, injuries have all but halted Gallinari's ascent to stardom. He missed all of 2013-14 after suffering a torn ACL late in the 2012-13 campaign and was limited last year because of a meniscus tear in the opposite knee. While a strong run after the All-Star break earned Gallinari a contract extension, it was nonetheless curious given his tumultuous last couple of seasons.
