Memphis Grizzlies big man Marc Gasol suffered an ankle injury Tuesday in a loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder.

Gasol's Injury Deemed a Sprain Tuesday, Dec. 8 Gasol started Tuesday's contest and played 23 minutes and scored 11 points before exiting for good. Ari Alexander of WMC Action News 5 said head coach David Joerger confirmed Gasol's injury was a sprain, while Rotoworld, citing the Commercial Appeal's Ronald Tillery, said the big man's status for Wednesday's game against the Detroit Pistons was "up in the air."

A serious injury to Gasol would be a devastating setback for the Grizzlies, so it is encouraging it was only a sprain. He is a two-time All-Star and two-time All-NBA team member who took home the 2012-13 NBA Defensive Player of the Year as one of the best overall centers in the league.
