The Minnesota Wild have locked down their new franchise goaltender, Devan Dubnyk, to what sources are telling ESPN's Pierre LeBrun is a six-year, $26 million deal.
Dubnyk rose from little-known netminder to Vezina Trophy finalist after his stellar 38-game stretch of starts with the Wild, following his trade from the Arizona Coyotes in January 2015. The 29-year-old went 27-9-2 in those consecutive starts, a franchise record, carrying the Wild to the playoffs.
They lost in the Western Conference semifinals to the Chicago Blackhawks after defeating the St. Louis Blues in the first round.
Wild general manager Chuck Fletcher spoke with TSN's Frank Seravalli about Dubnyk's future with the club: "We're not asking him to duplicate what he did this year every year. Maybe that's not realistic, but we believe he can be a real good goaltender in this league. He's right at the stage in his career where he's ready to take off."
