Jagr Closing in on Ron Francis for 4th-Most Points in NHL History

Florida Panthers forward Jaromir Jagr heads into Tuesday's game against the Boston Bruins needing just two more points to tie Ron Francis for fourth place on the NHL's all-time points list, per Sportsnet Stats.

Following a two-goal performance in Sunday's big win over the Ottawa Senators, Jagr has 1,796 career points, leaving him just two shy of the 1,798 that Francis accumulated from 1981-82 to 2003-04.

It would be huge for the Panthers if Jagr can tie or pass Francis on Tuesday, as Florida is playing a second straight game against one of the teams it is chasing for a wild-card spot.

The Bruins currently hold the final spot, with 89 points through 76 games. The Panthers have 85 points and have also played 76 games, while the Senators sit at 86 points through just 75 games.

Should the Panthers lose to the Bruins on Tuesday, the race will essentially be down to two teams, as Florida would be trailing by six points with only five games left to play.

Regardless of how the Panthers close out their season, the 43-year-old Jagr seems like a pretty good bet to play for at least one more year.
