Henrik Zetterberg Injury: Updates on Red Wings Star’s Upper Body and Return

The Detroit Red Wings announced Saturday night that veteran left wing Henrik Zetterberg suffered an upper-body injury against the Dallas Stars and would be unable to return, per Ansar Khan of MLive.com.

Helene St. James of the Detroit Free Press reported that Niklas Kronwall thinks Zetterberg took a blow to the head.

Entering Saturday's game, Zetterberg was first on the team in assists (34) and points (49) while totaling the fourth-most goals (15). After two injury-plagued seasons, the 34-year-old has looked great and is a big reason for why the Red Wings are in the playoff picture.

Detroit currently owns a nine-point edge on the Boston Bruins, who are the last Eastern Conference wild-card team in the postseason.

As long as Zetterberg doesn't miss a ton of time going forward, that gap should not close to the extent that Detroit is suddenly on the outside looking in.
