The injury bug continues to wreak havoc on the Carolina Hurricanes to start the 2014-15 season. Defenseman Andrej Sekera hit the boards hard and was forced to exit Tuesday night's game against the Buffalo Sabres.

The team announced he suffered an upper-body injury:

NHL on NBC posted a video of Sekera crashing into the boards:

As John Vogl of The Buffalo News pointed out, the Hurricanes are already dealing with plenty of injuries to key players:

Sekera amassed 44 points (11 goals, 33 assists) in his first year with Carolina, which was good enough for third on the team in 2013-14. He finished tied for 14th in points among all defensemen.

The 'Canes haven't made the postseason in any of the last five seasons. In order for the franchise to break that duck, it will need for Sekera to get healthy again and for the team's injury problems to become a thing of the past.
