Top Unrestricted Free Agents the Toronto Maple Leafs Should Pursue for 2014-15

The Toronto Maple Leafs have a lot of needs to address in the offseason. Brendan Shanahan and Dave Nonis have their work cut out for them as they try to build a perennial winner in Canada's largest city.

Fans are understandably frustrated with the club that has not won a Stanley Cup since 1967 and has had limited playoff success over the past 20 years.

There are several roster needs, but we see defensemen as the pool of players the Leafs should be focusing on this summer in unrestricted free agency. The club's defensive woes are known to all and shoring up the team's needs on the blue line should be the first priority.

There are certain defenders who are likely to be available after the playoffs end and could have a positive impact on the Leafs' poor shot differential. Their minus-7.8 shot differential per game left them second-last in 2013-14.
