Oklahoma City Thunder forward Kevin Durant has scored at least 25 points in each of his last 22 games, marking the longest streak of 25-point games in the NBA since Durant put together a 29-game run in 2009-10.
The 29-game stretch in 2009-10 came during the same part of the season as this year's run, lasting from Dec. 22, 2009 through Feb. 23, 2010. Durant's ongoing streak began with a 48-point performance against the Utah Jazz on Jan. 7, and he most recently torched the Los Angeles Clippers for 42 points in a loss on Sunday.
While the two streaks both occurred right in the middle of the NBA season, there are some major differences between Durant's pair of historic stretches.
For starters, star Thunder guard Russell Westbrook played in every game during the 2009-10 streak but has only been present for the two most recent games in Durant's ongoing streak. Despite not having Westbrook around to threaten opposing defenses, Durant has converted 52.5 percent of his field-goal attempts during the ongoing stretch. With Westbrook present back in 2009-10, Durant made just 50.8 percent of his shot attempts during the first streak.
