It took a period for Team Canada to find its groove, but the defending gold medalists built a 2-0 lead during a dominant second frame, ultimately defeating Norway by a score of 3-1 in the first game of Group B preliminary round action.

The first period was evenly played and Norwegian goaltender Lars Haugen stood strong when called upon.

In the second period, Shea Weber and Jamie Benn got the Canadians on the board.

An early third-period power-play marker from Norway drew the score to 2-1, but Drew Doughty quickly answered back to restore the two-goal lead, which Canada rode the rest of the way.

The game brings Canada's preliminary-round record to 1-0, while Norway is 0-1.
