Jaromir Jagr Passes Mario Lemieux for 10th on NHL’s All-Time Assists List

New Jersey Devils winger Jaromir Jagr picked up two assists at Yankee Stadium on Sunday to pass former teammate Mario Lemieux for 10th place on the NHL's all-time assists list.

Jagr's pair of assists helped the Devils jump out to a 3-2 first-period lead over the New York Rangers in what would eventually be an ugly 7-3 loss for the Devils. In the first NHL game played at Yankee Stadium, Jagr and his teammates were outscored 5-0 after the first period.

Despite the bad loss Sunday, this particular milestone likely carries a special significance for Jagr, who spent seven years playing with Lemieux on the Pittsburgh Penguins. Lemieux is the franchise's all-time leader in points, goals, assists and games played, with Jagr holding down second place in each of those categories.

Earlier this season, the 41-year-old Jagr passed Lemieux for ninth place on the NHL's all-time goals list, before also passing Steve Yzerman and Mark Messier to grab sole possession of seventh place. Of course, as Jagr has pointed out in the past, it took Lemieux far fewer games to accomplish similar milestones.
