The New York Knicks (14-22) defeated the Philadelphia 76ers (12-25) 102-92 on Saturday night to capture their fourth consecutive victory.
After trailing by eight after one quarter of play, the Knicks exploded for a combined 64 points in the second and third quarters, and were led by 21 points on 8-of-10 shooting (5-of-5 from the free-throw line) from Amar'e Stoudemire.
Carmelo Anthony was steady throughout and provided 18 points, seven assists and a game-high nine rebounds.
The big surprise, though, was the play of J.R. Smith, who scored 14 points (5-of-8 shooting, 3-of-4 from three) and dished out six assists one game after being benched by head head coach Mike Woodson. He was also plus-20 in 27 minutes.
The Sixers looked lethargic over the game's final 36 minutes as they fought off fatigue on the second night of a back-to-back, and shot 46 percent from the field and 26 percent from three in the loss.
