The Washington Wizards hosted the Houston Rockets on Saturday, Jan. 11, with each team coming off their worst scoring output of the season in the previous game. After a bizarre evening that saw two rain delays inside the arena, the Rockets held off the Wizards for a 114-107 victory.
The Rockets (24-14) played without Chandler Parsons (calf, hamstring) and their offense came in fits and starts. James Harden led all scorers with 25 points and Dwight Howard added 23. Terrence Jones was everywhere with 19 points, 17 rebounds and three blocked shots. Jeremy Lin played potently with 18 points and eight assists.
John Wall led the Wizards (16-19) with 23 points and 10 dimes, but Trevor Ariza was the best player in a Washington uniform. Ariza tallied 23 points, 14 boards and five steals.
The teams were knotted at 29 apiece when the game came screeching to a halt at 11:51 of the second quarter. Actually, it hydroplaned. A steady drip of water began falling from the Verizon Center ceiling and landing directly on halfcourt in front of the scorer's table.
