Kyrie Irving Injury: Updates on Cavaliers PG’s Knee and Return

Cleveland Cavaliers fans are going to have to spend New Year's Eve holding their collective breath—superstar point guard Kyrie Irving is headed for an MRI on Wednesday after injuring his left knee. 

Jason Lloyd of the Akron Beach Journal passes along the concerning news:

MRI on Kyrie Irving's ailing left knee coming tomorrow. Happy New Year!

— Jason Lloyd (@JasonLloydABJ) December 31, 2013 Irving, who has a well-documented injury history, slipped and fell during a drive to the rim in the third quarter of Tuesday's game against the Indiana Pacers. He was tended to by medical staff and eventually taken back to the locker room, but he returned to action in the fourth quarter. 

Despite returning, though, the 21-year-old star said he felt a "pop" in his knee and didn't sound too optimistic after the game, via Lloyd:

I thought the worst had happened. My left knee is pretty weak right now. I was falling all over the place. I didn't have my legs under me... I'm still hoping that there's nothing wrong, just something slight, if anything at all. Just hoping for the best.
