Arron Afflalo Joins Elite 40-Point Club

Even though the Philadelphia 76ers emerged with the double-overtime victory over the Orlando Magic, Arron Afflalo couldn't be stopped. 

He finished with 43 points on the night, allowing him to join a rather elite group: the 40-point club. So far, there have been only five members during the 2013-14 season: 

Carmelo Anthony, 45 points Paul George, 43 Chris Paul, 42 Kevin Durant, 42 Kyrie Irving, 41 Now there are six. 

Irving and Afflalo are the only players who needed an extra period (or two) to gain entry, but that doesn't diminish the accomplishment. Even though he used an additional 10 minutes against arguably the worst defense in the NBA, the Orlando 2-guard should still be quite proud of his accomplishment. 



Forty points isn't an easy milestone to crack, no matter how much time is spent on the court. 

Afflalo was particularly potent shooting from beyond the arc, drilling five triples, but he also thrived attacking the basket and drawing contact. In fact, he made 11 trips to the charity stripe, three of which came when Evan Turner ran into him as he fade ...
