Martin Biron Rejoins Rangers for Training Camp After Personal Absence

New York Rangers backup goaltender Martin Biron has rejoined the team for the remainder of training camp after missing the first two days due to "personal reasons", according to ESPNNewYork.com and Andrew Gross of The Bergen Record.

Biron had to return to Buffalo, New York where his family lives in the offseason.

Wide speculation was made when Biron was not present at camp and former New Jersey Devils backup goaltender Johan Hedberg arrived to the Rangers camp on a professional tryout (PTO). Hedberg is still slated to practice with the team today, despite Biron's return.

Gross reports that Hedberg is unsure of what future he may have with the Rangers, but wanted to explore the opportunity nonetheless.

"I was sitting at home and I got the call I can come here, I thought it was a great opportunity I wanted to explore. I don’t have much more information than that."

Hedberg admits he has "no idea" what he is competing for at camp—Henrik Lundqvist has obviously locked up the starting goaltending responsibilities, and Biron's return makes any shot at Hedberg earning a roster spot slim-to-none.
