Lakers News: Latest Talk on L.A.’s Future Plans and More

Despite the long history of offseason successes in Los Angeles, the Lakers are having one of the worst summers in the franchise's existence.

Superstar center Dwight Howard took his talents to Houston, Metta World Peace was cut free via amnesty and Kobe Bryant is rehabilitating his injured Achilles, leaving little hope for the aging squad to win a title next season.

For these reasons and more, many fans have been entertaining the possibility of the Purple and Gold tanking. By floundering to a disastrous record, the Lakers will obtain a top pick in the loaded 2014 draft and likely score a player to build around in the future.

There’s also the impending 2014 free agency class, which is absolutely laden with talent and includes LeBron James, Carmelo Anthony and much more.
