The Boston Bruins defeated the Chicago Blackhawks, 2-0, in Game 3 Monday night, and now hold the 2-1 series lead in the 2013 Stanley Cup Final.
Daniel Paille and Patrice Bergeron stepped up to boost the Bruins to victory.
The first period was physical from the start, which was to be expected on the Bruins' home ice. The Blackhawks, however, failed to capitalize on two power-play chances—extending Chicago's PP drought to 17—and the game remained scoreless after 20 minutes of action at TD Garden.
The Bruins led the Blackhawks in shots, 11-10, as well as hits, 12-9, after one period.
That's not to mention their 17-5 advantage on faceoffs, which Patrice Bergeron was a big part of. The Boston Bruins tweeted after the period:
