Martin Brodeur Fan Manages to Bungle NHL 14 Twitter Vote to Unbelievable Level

You wouldn't think a simple fan vote for the cover of the upcoming NHL 14 would feature the saddest tale in all of sports fandom, but it does. 

This is a remarkable story about a fan who went above and beyond to get his hero on to the cover of an upcoming video game, only to fail at every turn. 

Deadspin's Barry Petchesky informs us the plight of Twitter user @broduer669 (discovered and sent their way by user Dave Lozo).

It seems the the person who goes by David Poworski created the @broduer669 account solely for the purposes of voting for New Jersey Devils star Marty Brodeur on EA Sports' Twitter campaign to select the next cover athlete for NHL 14. Apparently, it's now a heated race between Brodeur and Columbus Blue Jackets goalie Sergei Bobrovsky. 

Going through the trouble of creating an account just to vote a player's likeness onto a cover is a bit much, but the man has spent his career with the organization, so we will allow it.
