It's only taken Boston Bruins defenseman Torey Krug five postseason games to make NHL history.
It was almost a week ago when Krug was an injury replacement for Dennis Seidenberg. Prior to the playoffs, Krug had been playing with the Providence Bruins. Now the 22-year-old defenseman has been thrust into the spotlight as a result of his goal-scoring heroics. He's been so good that he's entering a zone no other rookie defenseman ever has (h/t Joe Haggerty of CSNNE.com):
This is the kind of story that if you pitched to a Hollywood producer, he or she would tell you it's too ridiculous. No player could step into the cauldron that is the Stanley Cup Playoffs and make such an immediate impact.
And yet, that's exactly what Krug has done.
It's much too early to start discussing Krug's potential legacy. He's got so few games under his sleeve it's impossible to predict where his career could go from here.
