Detroit Pistons: Ideal Player Comparisons for Young Players

I love to compare players.

I may be in the minority (although judging from the myriad of articles I see online, I am not), but I truly do believe that players can be gauged against one another regardless of era or disparate aspects of their game.

I like the idea of searching for the next Michael Jordan, Larry Bird and Magic Johnson.

I also like using comparisons in explaining young players to those that may not be familiar with them. I like that when I describe someone as a young Walt Williams, it means that they are a big guy that can handle the rock.

Comparisons are such a great, albeit somewhat lazy, way to describe players.

I also think that there is a lot of value in using someone to compare yourself to ideally. Would Kobe Bryant have become as great of a player he is had he not had Jordan to mimic and idealize? Probably not.

So here are some players that the Detroit Pistons' younger players should model themselves after.
