Ondrej Pavelec of Winnipeg Jets Named NHLPA Player of the Week

With the return of the NHL to Winnipeg this season, fans of the Manitoba capital are riding a euphoric wave of pride and joyousness having their Jets back in the city.

Not only are the people in Winnipeg just happy with having their team back, but they are also in a position to potentially see the team make the playoffs in the Eastern Conference.

A huge reason for the success of the Jets and their position in the standings is goaltender Ondrej Pavelec. The Czech netminder has been superb lately, producing a number of highlight reel saves which have energized the fans and his team and helped them capture crucial points as the season comes down the home stretch.

His play instills confidence in his teammates, who are becoming spoiled by his stellar play and are beginning to expect nothing less from the 24-year-old netminder. He has been especially hot lately, going 4-1-1 in his last six starts, games that have included some saves that will definitely be replayed on year-end highlight shows.
