According to CBSSports.com, the Phoenix Suns have extended head coach Alvin Gentry's contract through the 2013 season.

Gentry led the Suns to a 54-28 record last season in his first full year as coach, but the Suns' potential is in flux as a result of Amar'e Stoudemire leaving to join the New York Knicks this offseason, which leaves a gaping hole at the power forward position.

In addition, point guard Steve Nash's age (36 years old) is starting to show, judging by his performance last season.

The Phoenix Suns are a team with many questions but Gentry's extension is one objective they needed to accomplish as soon as possible.
