Paul Kariya in a Toronto Maple Leafs Jersey? Looks Good to Me

Think about it. The Leafs lack leadership at the forward position. The Leafs need playmakers. Paul Kariya gives us both.

At 35, Kariya still managed to score 18 goals and 25 assists last year with the St. Louis Blues. He has scored an average of 26.8 goals per season during his 15-year career, only missing more than half a season once.

He could provide valuable leadership for young players Tyler Bozak and Nazem Kadri. Also, he has been around winning environments, such as the Anaheim Mighty Ducks in '03-04, and he was a member of the gold medal-winning Team Canada in 2002.

Now does that mean his best days are behind him? Maybe, but Kariya has those intangibles that everyone wants on their team.

Sign him to a deal similar to what Ray Whitney signed in Phoenix today. Then we would still have enough to sign another free agent forward and be able to add another top-six forward by trading Tomas Kaberle.

Not to mention it would be nice to see him finally play for a Canadian team.
