Leading his league in goals the past two seasons, a first team All-Star three seasons in a row and consistently putting in more points than games in the past four seasons, Alexandre Giroux is still waiting for a real chance to play in the NHL.
At the age of 29, Alexandre has never played more than 12 games in one season, and only receiving an opportunity three times over the past nine seasons while playing in the AHL.
The 6’2, 210lb forward knows how to use his big league frame, and put up points, already this season for the Oklahoma City Barons he has six goals and five assists in 10 games played.
Giroux was drafted by the Ottawa Senators in 1999, in the seventh round, 213th overall. Since then, he’s never been given a real shot at making it in the big leagues.
This past offseason he was signed by the Edmonton Oilers to a one-year contract. The Oilers are finally in a rebuilding year, after attempting to achieve the playoffs with an undervalued team, they now have the right players and youth to rebuild.
