Washington Capitals Look To Go Shark Hunting Tonight As Hot San Jose Visits

The Washington Capitals have been streak busting lately while getting hot themselves. Tonight at home, they will have yet another shot to shut down a hot team when the San Jose Sharks visit the big phone booth in Washington, DC.

The Capitals stopped the Tampa Bay Lightning's six game winning streak on Friday night and the Pittsburgh Penguins five game winning streak on Sunday.

Tonight, another hot team comes into Washington, the San José Sharks. Winners of their last three, including a very impressive 2-0 over Tim Thomas and the Boston Bruins on Sunday.

The Sharks have won seven of their last eight and have earned points in all eight games. The Capitals have managed to earn points in 18 of their last 22 games with a record of 11-4-7 over that span.

 Washington is 5-1-3 in their last nine games and has not allowed more than two goals in regulation stretching back 22 games. The Capitals have allowed just 39 goals.

 The Capitals power play and goal tending have played a key part in their recent defensive success. The Caps have killed 35 of their last 37 short-handed situations.
