News on Willie Mitchell



Ilya Kovalchuk

According to ESPN, Kovalchuk's agent, Jay Grossman, Devils chairman/managing partner Jeff Vanderbeek, and Devil's GM Lou Lamoriello met at the NHL's office in NYC yestersday.

The Record (Bergen County, NJ) confirmed that the Devils have not pitched a new contract for Kovalchuk yet.

Willie Mitchell

Gordon McIntyre of the Vancouver Province believes Willie Mitchell can sign as soon as today. Rumor has it that the LA Kings have offered him a two-year deal. However, there are still four teams interested in him including the the LA Kings, the San Jose Sharks, the Vancouver Canucks, and the Washington Capitals. 

Lee Stempniak

Dave Vest of the Desert Dog Blog reports that Phoenix GM Don Maloney would like to re-sign Stempniak to a one year deal. However, Stempniak is looking for insurance and wants to sign a multi-year deal. There are teams interested in him, but there has been some disagreement.
