The Dallas Stars scored three goals in the first period to stun the road crowd and then held on for a 3-2 victory over the St. Louis Blues on Monday night at the Scottrade Center to force a decisive Game 7.

Mattias Janmark and Vernon Fiddler scored just 20 seconds apart early in the first period to stake Dallas to the lead and take the home crowd out of the game.

Jason Spezza netted what would prove to be the game winner on the power play with just over three minutes to play in the opening frame.

The Blues dominated the rest of the night, outshooting the Stars 37-14 in the game, but they were unable to get the tying goal late despite a furious rally.

Alexander Steen and Patrick Berglund had the St. Louis goals.

The Stars and Blues will meet Wednesday night in Dallas with a spot in the Western Conference Final on the line.
