The New York Rangers were in a bit of trouble as they headed into the third period of Game 6 against the Tampa Bay Lightning.

While they held a 2-1 lead, they had been outskated and outplayed by the Lightning in the last five minutes of the first period and the entire second period. It seemed as if Tampa Bay would come out of the locker room pressing, and it would just be a matter of time before the Bolts beat Henrik Lundqvist and tied the score.

New York, however, dictated the pace in the third period and scored five goals to run away with a 7-3 victory. The Rangers got a hat trick from Derick Brassard and drove Tampa Bay goalie Ben Bishop to the bench.

Brassard had five points on the night, while J.T. Miller and Rick Nash each scored a goal and added three assists for the Blueshirts.

The series is tied 3-3, and Game 7 will be played Friday night at Madison Square Garden.

Henrik Lundqvist had 35 saves for the Rangers.
