The Pittsburgh Penguins throttled the Tampa Bay Lightning 4-2 on Wednesday night at the Amalie Arena to take a 2-1 edge in their best-of-seven Eastern Conference Final series.

Pittsburgh dominated every facet of the game, outshooting Tampa Bay 48-28 on the night, including a resounding 21-6 edge in the second period.

The Lightning had no answers for the Penguins' "HBK" line of Carl Hagelin, Nick Bonino and Phil Kessel, which combined for two goals and three assists.

Hagelin opened the scoring with 10 ticks left in the second off a Kessel rebound set up by a bad offensive-zone turnover by Jonathan Drouin.

Kessel, who was all over the ice generating chances, got his own marker early in the third, and Sidney Crosby iced it on the power play with his fifth goal of the playoffs.

Chris Kunitz also added a late marker.

Tyler Johnson and Ondrej Palat had the goals for the Lightning, while backup netminder Andrei Vasilevskiy stopped 44 of 48 shots faced.
