NHL Rumours: James Van Riemsdyk on His Way Out of Philadelphia?

Multiple sources have reported, and now its confirmed that Brian Burke inquired into the availability of James van Riemsdyk. Flyers said he's not available.

This is no surprise as Burke wants to shake up his anemic offense, and Riemsdyk is a big forward. As for the Flyers refusing to deal him, I find it interesting because they are right up against the cap and unless Riemsdyk takes a huge paycut, he cannot remain on the Flyers.


Bruce Garrioch of the Ottawa Sun reported that several teams are interested in Senators defenceman Brian Lee, but the Senators will have to take major salary back.

Makes sense as in a cap system you have to make it a dollar-for-dollar swap. Furthermore, Lee has a terrible contract so he can only be traded for another bad contract.


Peter Chiarelli denies that he has a deal in place that will send Marco Sturm to the Los Angeles Kings. Sturm has agreed to waive his NTC for a few teams, and the Kings just happen to be one of them.

I expect the Bruins to deal Sturm to the Kings, but for a reasonably low draft pick as the Kings don't want to spend their entire budget on an ordinary player like Stu ...
