The New York Rangers have already made a huge splash in the offseason with their acquisition of Rick Nash from the Columbus Blue Jackets. That may not be their last big move, though. According to Larry Brooks of the New York Post, Shane Doan wants out of Phoenix and has put the Rangers on his short list of possible destinations.
At 36 years of age, Doan has spent his entire career with the Coyotes, and it makes sense for him to go to a contender.
The Rangers are the best option if he wants to hoist the Stanley Cup. Not only did they finish with the best record in the Eastern Conference last season, but they bolstered their attack with Nash and didn't have to give up too much in return.
Though New York didn't lose a lot in the Rick Nash trade, one thing it did lose was depth. Already one of the favorites for the Stanley Cup next year, Doan would solidify a talented roster and make the Rangers the team to beat in the East.
