Now that the initial frenzy of free agency has subsided in the NHL, teams around the league have been given an opportunity to take a step back and take inventory of their rosters to reassess what they need ahead of the 2016-17 season. 

As the summer progresses, there are still a number of names that could be landing in new places. So let's take a look at the latest rumors around the NHL. 

   

Red Wings Looking for Blueliners The Detroit Red Wings might have missed out on Steven Stamkos after he re-signed with the Tampa Bay Lightning, but they still have been active in July. 

First, they inked former New York Islanders forward Frans Nielsen and followed it by nabbing Thomas Vanek. Both of those players are capable of scoring over 20 goals per season despite being over 30 years old. 

But questions surround the Red Wings defense, as the team has been looking for a top-two, two-way defenseman on the trade market since before the NHL draft in late June, per Ansar Khan of MLive.com.
