The Spengler Cup usually doesn't include any top stars because the tournament takes place during the NHL season ever year, but the lockout will give some of the top Canadian players the rare opportunity to experience this prestigious event.

According to Hockey Canada, some of the NHL's top stars will represent Team Canada as it attempts to win the 12th Spengler Cup title in the nation's history, and the first since 2007.

Player Position NHL Team Tyler Seguin C Boston Bruins Jason Spezza C Ottawa Senators Matt Duchene C Colorado Avalanche John Tavares C New York Islanders Sam Gagner C Edmonton Oilers Patrice Bergeron C Boston Bruins The tournament will begin on Christmas and will conclude on January 1, and as always, it will be held in Davos, Switzerland (home of HC Davos).

Davos are the defending champions of the tournament following their victory over Latvian club Dinamo Riga in last year's final.

Since there were so many NHL players who went to Switzerland during the lockout to play professional hockey, it's no surprise that so many stars are willing to go back to participate in this tournament.
