NHL Lockout 2013: Evgeni Malkin Is Shredding Apart the KHL

While NHL fans across North America patiently wait for their stars get back on the ice, guys like Evgeni Malkin are not missing a beat.

Playing in the KHL for Metallurg Magnitogorsk, Malkin has racked up 19 goals and 40 assists in just 35 games with a plus-19 rating.

In fact, in his last nine games to close out 2012, Malkin posted seven goals and 18 assists for a total of 25 points to go along with a plus-15 rating. Statistics courtesy of KHL.ru.

Malkin is just four points back of Metallurg teammate Sergei Mozyakin for the KHL league-lead, who also leads the KHL in goals with 28.

According to R-Sport.ru, Malkin is "delighted with his lockout team." He stated in an interview:

We have a great team that has been recently playing very well. I hope our confidence will transfer to the next year. The playoffs are round the corner and we are eagerly looking forward to them.

His team currently sits in third place in the Eastern Conference of the KHL, just two points back of the two teams who are tied for first place.
