NHL Free Agency: Is Peter Forsberg Planning an NHL Comeback?

Kevin Allen, a hockey writer for USA Today, tweeted that former Colorado Avalanche and Philadelphia Flyers great Peter Forsberg is practicing with his Swedish team, MODO, and has told Swedish press that he feels good and would like to play again.

Allen didn’t specify where Forsberg plans on playing, but it was reported in June that the Flyers offered Forsberg a contract in March, but he declined because of his fear that injuries would limit his ability to contribute.

Forsberg, a five time NHL All-Star and two time Stanley Cup champion, stands as one of the game’s elite playmaking forwards in league history. Foppa currently sits ninth all-time in career points per game (1.254) and fourth in career assists per game (0.901).

In his 13-year NHL career, Forsberg has scored 249 goals, 636 assists for 885 points in 706 regular season games with the Avalanche, Flyers and Nashville Predators. The 37-year-old performed even better in the playoffs, scoring 171 points in 151 career postseason games.
