NHL 2011-12: Who Should Captain the New York Rangers This Season

The New York Rangers are a storied franchise with a rich history. This year, the club celebrated its 85th anniversary.

Throughout the years, many different men have worn the storied captain’s “C” across their chest. 

Over the past few years, the Rangers have had captain’s such as Mark Messier, Brian Leetch, Jaromir Jagr and the departed Chris Drury.

All of these men shared common attributes. Firstly, these men all had the ability to lead their teams. Night in and night out, these players all went through the daily grind and were looked upon for guidance and direction.

Being the team captain is a big responsibility, and it is not to be take lightly. Each of these men served the team honorably and with respect.

This group of players also had experience which helped them point and mold the minds of young players that followed their examples. 

Now that Chris Drury is gone, the Rangers need to appoint a new leader for the 2011-12 campaign.
