NHL 13 Cover Vote: Pekka Rinne Would Be Most Interesting Man on Cover

You only have to look at the promotional ad for Nashville Predators goaltender Pekka Rinne to know that he would be the most interesting man...on the NHL 13 cover.

The popular video game series pitted Rinne against Philadelphia Flyers center Claude Giroux in the cover vote this year. On one hand, there was the intense, fearless Giroux. On the other hand, there was the goalie who could "freeze the puck by looking at it," as the ad proclaimed.

Let's face it, there are plenty of intense, fearless hockey players. Honestly, if you aren't intense and fearless, you probably shouldn't be playing in the NHL. 

While commendable, intense and fearless is boring. You may as well pit every professional hockey player against each other in the cover vote based on that criteria.

But with Rinne, you have personality, you have marketability and you have a cover athlete whose "glove hand gives Chuck Norris nightmares." That's not to mention finally giving credit to the goaltenders out there who are constantly overshadowed by the scorers of the league.



It's time for a goalie to be given the cover. Imagine if EA Sports allowed ...
