Marian Hossa Injury: Updates on Blackhawks Forward’s Upper Body and Return

The Chicago Blackhawks lost star forward Marian Hossa to an injury on March 1 against the Pittsburgh Penguins.

Hossa took a big hit in the first period and was announced out for the game with an upper-body injury in the second period, according to Chris Adamski of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review:



Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reporter Chris Adamski provided an update following the game:

Hossa played just 5:06 in the 2014 Coors Light NHL Stadium Series before he took a major hit in the corner and left with the injury.

While Hossa has scored 26 goals this season, the injury confirms the notion that he is one to closely watch as nagging injuries have consistently caught up with him.

Now 16 NHL seasons into his career at the age of 35, it was easy to wonder how Hossa's body would hold up after he made the trip to Sochi, Russia to play for Slovakia in the 2014 Winter Games. He told the media just days before the showdown with Pittsburgh in Chicago that his body felt great, via Mark Potash of the Chicago Sun-Times:
